Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the border from next door Thailand, where casino wagering is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect spot, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; however, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and although visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling hall, features 150 slots and 60 tables. The Naga casino is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel building that features numerous conveniences in addition to the casino, which has ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 table games.
